Founded in 1975, Hutchens Rentz-Eden has become a trusted provider of fuel, lubricants and expert equipment services to businesses large and small. Over the years, Hutchens Rentz-Eden has reached significant milestones that have shaped our path and propelled us forward:

1975 Our journey in the fuel industry began

when Larry Hutchens acquired A.D. Hopkins Distributing and renamed it L.E. Hutchens, Inc.

2000 Rebranded to Hutchens Petroleum

to reflect the Hutchens family’s leadership and expanding services.

2007 Tim Hutchens took ownership

initiating growth and expansion into new service areas and markets.

2017 Purchased a Tennessee facility

to enhance distribution across eastern Tennessee.

2019 We acquired Rentz-Eden Oil

broadening our reach and enhancing services under a new name: Hutchens Rentz-Eden.

2020 Hutchens Petroleum rebranded

to Hutchens Rentz-Eden to better communicate our brand and capitalize on the strong Rentz-Eden reputation.

2022 Expanded into the Shenandoah Valley

with the lubricant assets of Superior Plus Energy in Verona, VA.

2023 Acquired Watts Petroleum

in Lynchburg, VA, strengthening our presence in the New River Valley and Central Virginia.

2025 HRE Celebrates 50 Years
